When considering outdoor photo sessions many want lush green and floral backgrounds, however, photo shoots in the later part of fall (and early winter) in San Antonio, TX is a great season. Besides the usually optimal temperatures, what I really like about this time of year is the uniformed and rustic look of everything (in general) which can aid in helping the person to stand out against the background. As well, many families are looking for photo opportunities to showcase themselves for holiday greetings and gift options for those with whom they are most close. It is often a time that family members are available / together to grab those elusive chances to capture images of their extended family. Because the temperatures are lower individuals are more relaxed and can manage longer for the photo session (especially ideal for large groups and/or children).
There are drawbacks, however. Every photographer knows that the optimal times to take photos are at sunrise and sunset. However, that can be the coldest time of the day (especially sunrise). It’s best to save the sunrise photos for warmer days; unless your subjects don’t mind dressing in warm outer wear. It’s also hard on the photographer to take their best shots if their fingers are numb!
Great locations abound in San Antonio: abundant locations around the Riverwalk, the missions, art galleries, The Pearl area, local parks, Bracken Village, etc. So, go, have fun and snap away – or email me for a photo session: carollloveless@yahoo.com
